Starting with the 2016/17 season, Netcom Kassel Gesellschaft für Telekommunikation mbH is joining in as a co-sponsor for Handball Bundesliga club MT Melsungen. The provider of innovative networking technology had good experiences in 2015 when it discovered it could reach a broad audience by providing free WLAN to visitors in Hofgeismar during Hesse's State Holiday. Several months later, fans of the MT had their chance to find out just how effective Netcom's services can be when the free service was extended to the Rothenbach Hall, just in time for the Hesse Derby.
Free WLAN access during Bundesliga games in the Rothenbach Hall scored big for Netcom Kassel among fans of the MT. The start of the new service was perfectly timed: Netcom went live with free internet just in time for the Hesse derby against HSG Wetzlar on 27 February 2016. 4,300 visitors accepted the offer by return post, to great enthusiasm. It didn't hurt Netcom's roll-out, of course, that the MT emerged victorious in its derby.
The partnership between the telecoms provider and the Handball Bundesliga club has only grown stronger since them, with the newly signed sponsoring agreement the next logical step. "We're very pleased to be working with Netcom Kassel, and view them as yet another strong, forward-looking partner. We share with this locally grown company a strong regional background leavened with an innovative, international outlook. We win fans through world-class sports; Netcom with world-class technology. A partnership that is a symbol of the strength present in North Hesse", explains MT Marketing Director Christine Höhmann.
"Netcom Kassel is pleased to have MT Melsungen as a partner that shares its passion for speed and acceleration. Our region lives and benefits from partnerships like this one, because our technical diversity in the field of telecommunications can help enrichen competitive athletics in its own special way", commented Jutta Schill, Director of Corporate Communication at Netcom Kassel.
Beyond the ongoing offer of free Wifi during home matches in Rothenbach Hall, Netcom Kassel is also present for MT fans through its eye-catching advertising on the playing field, the hall's LED band, the matchday magazine and from the match announcers. Other viral marketing campaigns are also planned for social media. While on the topic of marketing: The current ad campaign under the motto "Netcom holt die Welt nach Kassel" (Netcome is bringing the world to Kassel) has drawn lots of attention: The collage features realistic photoshops of famous global sightseeing destinations such as the Statue of Liberty in place of Kassel sights like the Herkules.
